NTI
Ripper 2.0 Review
By Bob Smith
There is little doubt
that the NTI Ripper is easy to use.
With its attractive interface and simple menu there is little
to learn after installation. Installing on Windows XP is very
quick and easy.
I installed it to my USB Smart drive for portability, as the user
guide suggested. It can be brought up on any computer that it
is plugged into as an overlay on the desktop and is fully functional
without any installation.
First try, I was able to convert a CD to MP3 files on the same smart
drive the program was on. Only problem was I found you must be on
line when you start to "RIP" if you want the data base info along
with the Music.
There is no provision
to access the info after you start. The set up for each output was
very straight forward with the Radio type video display. You can
convert from and to Mp3,WAV,WMA, and Ogg. formats.
I was not familiar with
the Ogg. format but discovered that it was an open source download
music site called VORBIS with medium quality format.
Evidently there is no provision to burn CD's or DVD's without
using some other program on your PC. At the download price of $29.99,
the best competitive program would be MP3 Maker by MAGIX software,
which will burn CD's, same price.
I tried to call their support in Ca. to see if I wasn't configured
to burn from their program. After calling the included number, I
was given a support number (949-421-0712) which didn't work.
The best features are
the attractive screen interface, and the portabillity with various
computers. If you are archiving with music files, you need file
conversion.
Very simple and easy
to use—a good buy for the price. For more information or
to download the program, visit the NTI
website.
