ULEAD Video Studio 10 Plus

Easy & Powerful Video Editing + DVD Authoring

Reviewed by Jim Hite

The installation was flawless—I installed the software on my HP tower which has a 200 GB hard drive, 1 GB RAM, 2.2 gigahertz 64-bit processor and a DVD burner.

The program came with a demonstration DVD and I was impressed with it—it runs about 22 minutes and I viewed it three times. This is an excellent DVD demo. Pay close attention to the narrator if you want to learn anything. The program also came with a bonus CD that includes InterVideo Windows DVD version 7, Pocket DV show MCE version, Cool 3D SE, audio clips, image clips and video clips.

To get started, double-click on the ULEAD icon. When that opens you have 3 choices: Video Studio Editor , Movie Wizard and DV to DVD Wizard . I chose the Movie Wizard and clicked the next button. Next click on the insert video button. Then double-click on each of the video clips you want for the video movie until you have all the clips loaded. Then click on the next button. Now click on the template you want and select the theme you want and click next button. Next click the create video file button; there are 20 files formats plus a custom selection, so click on which file format you want. I chose NTSC VCD. Type in the name of your video and then click save. Wait for the rendering; this may take a long time depending on how many video clips you have selected. Then click OK when rendering is done. Next click on the edit in ULEAD editor button. Click on the yes button to save your movie.

When your movie comes up, you can see your video clips in the storyboard view. You will see seven tabs at the top of the window: capture, edit, effects, overlay, title, audio and share. Click on the effects tab and then click and drag the transition you want between each video clip. Click on the timeline view and then the audio tab and click and drag the music track you want. Then click on the title tab to enter a title and click on other tabs to complete your tracks.

Click on the share tab and select project play back to view your movie. You can stop at this time if you want and save your work to edit the movie later. The next time you open the movie, double-click on the ULEAD icon and choose the V ideo Studio Editor .

Once you have completed all your editing you are ready to burn your video. You won't believe how easy it is to make a home movie. I didn't have time to try all of the below features but I will continue to use ULEAD and learn everything about the video software that I can.

Here's what's new and features of ULEAD Video Studio 10 Plus: pure HD capture, true Dolby 5.1 surround sound, video studio editor with new user interface design, more overlays, more overlay tracks, full high-definition support, native HD editing with smart proxy, enhanced multi-trim editor, new video filters, anti-shake, new transition effects, audio enhancements, improved titling, auto-rotate, enhanced menus and authoring, easier-faster-more powerful wizards and program power and support.

I found the online price of ULEAD Video Studio 10 Plus to be $59.95, which I think is a good for such an excellent program. So get your copy today and make movies; go to ulead.com now.
